Gradually coming out of Mobile World Congress, we see few devices now been announced for India. First Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was announced with a name change as Galaxy Note 510 and today Asustek has come up with Asus FonePad a 7 inches Android tablet announced at Mobile World Congress.
We were among the first bloggers to write about FonePad when it was leaked before its actual announcement. Asus last week launched MemoPad at Rs 9,999 in India and today they have announced FonePad 7 for Indian market. FonePad is actually a close variant of Google Nexus 7 tablet.
Going through the specifications of the the device, it features 7 inches IPS touchscreen display providing 1280 x 800 pixels HD resolution. It will be powered with Intel Atom Z2420 processor and clocked at 1.2 Ghz.
Asus FonePad has following specifications –
- Display: 7 inch IPS touchscreen display
- Resolution: 1280 x 800 pixels resolution
- OS: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS
- Processor: 1.2 Ghz Intel Atom Z2420 processor
- RAM: 1 GB DDR3 RAM
- Camera: 3 MP rear side, 1.2 MP front facing camera
- Storage: 8/16 Gb internal storage, micro SD card slot
Asus FonePad is priced at Rs 15,999 in Indian market. It will soon be available via various online retailers, Asus distributors in all Indian cities.
FonePad is priced lesser than Nexus 7 tablet but it should also consider that Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Huawei MediaPad 7 are priced quite lower than this. This is certainly a Nexus 7 tablet killer.
