iOS 9 on Two-Third of Apple iDevices – iOS Distribution Nov 2015

Apple iOS Distribution Stats

Couple of days back Google released Android distribution statistics and now Apple has released the same for iOS. Most of the time, Apple leads Google but this time there is a turn-around. Unlike Android, iOS adoption grows as there is a new iOS update available, within a month or so. We have seen it with iOS 8 and now with iOS 9.

In data released by Apple Developers for the month of November 2015, 66% of devices are running on iOS 9, this is around two third of iDevices. This was around 60 % last month as the update was released to other compatible devices. The iOS 9 combines iOS 9.0.1, iOS 9.0.2 and iOS 9.1 altogether.

Last year, launched along with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8 hit only 60% of devices, 64% in late December and January 2015 to reach 68% adoption.

The iOS 9 adoption did saw through a good number of iPhone users pushing to get the update, the major reason for rise in the percentage is due to fact that Cupertino based iPhone maker included iPhone 4S for the update.

For your information on the latest iOS beta builds, iOS 9.2 beta 2 dropped just yesterday.
