How to Resolve MX Player ‘Unsupported Android Version’ Error

How to fix MX Player unsupported Android Version Error on your Android phones & tablets on Android Oreo, Nougat, Marshmallow, Lollipop, 4.4 KitKat devices like Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10.

Software updates are always sweet but sometime you might need to bear up with some apps. Android 4.4.2 Kitkat is the latest version of Android and all the Nexus devices have been updated to this Android version. My LG Nexus 4 even seed this update, although it got delayed by 2 days as I am from India, but happy at the end as it arrived as OTA.

MX Player Unsupported Android Version

I quickly updated my Nexus 4 with the latest version and once after the update, everything was working fine but MX Player wasn’t able to launch. It showed up this error –

Any Solution?

Update as on November 22, 2017 – As expected, a new MX Player update is now available which supports Android 5.0. i.e., MX Player v1.7.32.

MX Player is the widely used Media player, when it comes to Android but on devices running Android 4.4.2 like Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10, you might just need to wait for a while. The official version of MX Player isn’t compatible with the latest Android version for some time or atleast some days. I tried out few of the Codecs available but it didn’t work out, so wait for a while until J2 Interactive the developer behind MX Player goes through this upgraded version of it.

If you are on Android 5.0 and facing a problem with MX Player then you can find your solution at XDA as Ktsamy has release Nightly version which are compatible with the latest version of Android.

I know it’s annoying.

Alternatives

Alternatively, you can try out different player for Android/iPhone until the update rolls out or download the latest version of MXPlayer.APK (if available). We recommend KM Player, VLC for Android or any other equivalent player.

So whenever there is a new Android version update, MX Player encounters us this error although it doesn’t show up for a longer duration as developers at J2 Interactive are pretty quick to fix it. So the only solution to this problem is waiting for MX player updated version!
