Karbonn Mobiles have introduced Titanium S5 ready to take on other flagship models and until now it has really proved to a device worth buying. Now that we have listed reasons to buy Micromax Canvas HD & reasons to buy Gionee Dream D1 given at that price, we should certainly be out with reason to buy Karbonn Titanium S5. Not long did Samsung came up with Galaxy Grand dual SIM version model named as Grand Duos.
We have put up comparison between Titanium S5 and Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone based on their technical information like features, specifications, pricing in India. This will be helpful in choosing the best among the two smartphones.
Karbonn is emerging as tough competitor to global smartphone players but they are second in the list to challenge as Micromax is inch ahead of Karbonn. Karbonn Titanium S1 eventually failed to show up some interest in competition with Micromax’s Canvas HD phone. Samsung decision to come up with low cost phablet phone priced around Rs 20,000 in India is interesting move to challenge low cost smartphone vendors. So let’s start the comparison here.
Both phones are entry level phablet phone as they sports 5 inches touchscreen display, ofcourse capacitive as no question of resistive touch comes in picture. Titanium S5 is pumped up with ordinary display providing 540 x 960 pixels resolution. We have seen beautiful display screen by top-end Samsung smartphone but to lower down the price of Galaxy Grand Duos, they have compromised on the display technology been adopted. Both devices mentioned here provides you with smooth touch experience over Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
Karbonn Titanium S5 is a power device with 1.2 Ghz quad core processor which is too high for Galaxy Grand with 1.2 Ghz dual core processor. But I would like you to ask a question, do you actually need quad core speed when Dual Core powered smartphones provide very good response?
Both smartphones are pumped with 1 Gb DDR3 RAM.
Both Karbonn Titanium S5 and Galaxy Grand Duos are with 8 mega pixel primary camera with LED flash. Also we see 2 mega pixel front facing camera spotted on both devices. Both phones comes with 720p HD video recording, auto focus and digital zooming feature.
OS & Dual SIM Comparison
It’s clear fact that Samsung wanted to bring the dual SIM version of Galaxy Grand, much anticipated by consumer when Galaxy Grand was launched. Just like other Karbonn Android phones, this will be also be with dual SIM capabilities. Both can handle 3G + 3G SIM cards with dual Standby capabilities and operating system included on both are Android 4.1 Jelly Bean bring the Google Now integration. So this means that both devices mentioned here offers equal number of apps and games available via Google Play Store.
Karbonn S5 Titanium is with 8 Gb internal memory along with a micro SD card slot supporting 32 GB of storage. Galaxy Grand Duos also has same internal storage and a micro SD card slot but Samsung brings 64 Gb micro SD card support. Now it’s pretty clear that on storage side, it dependent on how much size micro SD card you pump-in.
Battery Output Comparison
For a smartphone, battery life is very important parameter to choose. Titanium S5 is pumped up with 2,000 mAh battery providing 8 hours of talk time or 400 hours of standby time. That’s very less in comparison with Galaxy Grand Duos powered with 2100 mAh battery providing 10 hours of talk time or 440 hours of standby time. It’s not Karbonn’s fault, but Samsung has done good research on various battery consumption parameters and they have optimized accordingly.
While purchasing a smartphone, it finally tailored down to what price it bears. Karbonn has priced S5 Titanium at an affordable range of Rs 12,000 while Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos is priced at Rs 20,000. That is around Rs 8,000 difference but I would be optimistic about the decision as Samsung being a much popular brand, we have witnessed good resale value of Galaxy smartphones.
