Check the Internet connectivity

Most of the time the problems occur due to a faulty internet connection, so before you try doing anything with the iTunes settings, check for internet connectivity.

  1. Make sure the Wi-Fi router is in range.
  2. Ensure that the PC is being able to connect to Wi-Fi and access the internet.
  3. Rest the Wi-Fi router by turning it off and on again.
  4. Troubleshoot your Wi-Fi network and connections to be sure.

Disable/Enable Parental Controls on iTunes

If your internet connection is fine and running, try the commonest way to solve the issue.

  1. Launch iTunes.
  2. Go to the ‘Preferences’ option from the top menu.
  3. Go to the ‘Parental Control’ tab.
  4. Disable the access to iTunes Store and enable access to iTunes U.
  5. Quit iTunes.
  6. Re-launch iTunes to see if it directly goes it iTunes U.
  7. If this is done, go to ‘Parental Control’ again and enable the access to the iTunes Store.
  8. Quit iTunes and open it again to confirm connection is okay.

Switch to 3G

If the problem persists even when the Wi-Fi is running fine, you might need faster connectivity.

  1. Switch to 3G or 4G.
  2. Exit App Store or the iTunes app.
  3. Open it again.

Date-change method

Though we don’t know what the connection between iTunes and Date settings could be, this method works.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to General Settings.
  3. Go to Date and Time.
  4. Switch on Automatic date change.
  5. Exit iTunes and reopen to see if it worked.

Ensure that you have the latest software on your device. Ensure that the Mac OS X, iTunes and Safari are all updated to the latest versions.
