The complete error reads as –

Your connection is not secure

The owner of www.facebook.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

There are only two options available to navigate –

  • Go Back
  • Advanced

When you click on Go Back, you go back and try again. When you click on Advanced you get the following errors again –

www.facebook.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

That is for Facebook. Similar error is found while you access Google, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter or other famous websites.

 

Solution

In most cases, this might happen due to the wrong date and timing on your laptop or computer. So, go to the extreme right side and click on the dates/time stamp. Now click on Date and Timing Settings.

Enter the current time and date alongside the correct timezone.
