HTC announces Desire 300 a new smartphone in the market along with Desire 601. This announcement comes just before few days of official commencement of IFA 2013 event fair to be held in Berlin. Sporting mid-range features, Desire 300 should be priced at $ 300 or less if it has to stay in the market.
Since this is a budget phone you can’t expect metal built material like one found on HTC One. This doesn’t mean you should throw away Desire 300 phone. In terms of design, it comes with same plastic body with matter rubberized texture as found on One X phone. Non-metal body of Desire 300 means it’s the range of budget and it’s available in black, white and red color variants.
Display & Processor
1 Ghz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM powers the smartphone and unquestionably this has become the standard specs for any budget range phone. The display and processor of Desire 300 forms perfect blend for a mid-range phone.
Camera & Software
The 5 mega pixel primary camera may not attract photography enthusiastic but it’s good enough for Facebook, Instagram snaps. For perfect social connection needs, it has front facing VGA camera useful for video chat on various free apps like Google Hangout, Skype.
Coming to software of HTC Desire 300, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of box with HTC Sense 5 user interface customization. HTC also includes Blinkfeed news aggregator on the homescreen but lacks BoomSound. Don’t ask about update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as nobody isn’t sure of it.
Battery & Storage
With 1650 mAh battery official statement from HTC says about 11 hours of 3G talk time, on 2G it would be even more. Internal storage is limited to 4 GB, out of which 3GB is user available and HTC has included a micro SD card slot which supports storage up to maximum of 64 GB via compatible micro SD card.

In contrast to LG Optimus L7 II P715, this one doesn’t include Dual SIM capabilities, and also losses in camera section with 8 mega pixel splendid camera.
In comparison with Sony Xperia L the budget friendly phone from Sony, it losses in camera section, thanks to beautiful 8 MP camera.
Price, Availability, Discount
HTC will sale Desire 300 in three different color variants of White, Black and Red but no word has been said on price right now. The handset will reach selected markets in October this year.
