As announced last month, the HTC U Ultra is now available for purchase via HTC India store. Priced at Rs 59,990, it’s available in Black and Blue color variants as of now. The White, Pink U Ultra will be available later. Apart from U Ultra, HTC also unveiled U Play which will be available from mid-March.
The HTC U Ultra will compete with the likes of iPhone 7, upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 in the premium flagship range. If you opt for Galaxy S7 instead of HTC U Ultra, you save atleast Rs 17,000 which actually makes sense.
Both HTC U Ultra and U Play comes with proprietary HTC Sense Companion feature and remains its highlights. It’s an Artificial Intelligence system that learns from you [That’s the why the device is named as U]. It tracks your daily patterns and gives you personal suggestions. It can be a perfect tool as a reminder. With built-in voice recognition, it will recognize your voice and respond accordingly. With voice, you can control your device as well. The simple task like unlocking the phone, accept/reject incoming calls, snooze/dismiss alarm, send SMS and hands-free navigation.

Just like LG V10 and LG V20, HTC U Ultra also has a 2-inch secondary display apart from 5.7 inch Quad HD [2560 x 1440 pixels] Super LCD display. It can give you information at your fingertips as you can load contacts, app shortcuts, notifications and more for quick access.
It also has HTC USonic feature which can analyze your inner ears with a sonic pulse and adapts accordingly.
The sensors list on U Ultra goes long as we see the device with an Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Motion G-sensor, Compass sensor, Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Fingerprint sensor and Sensor Hub.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4 GB RAM and it’s available in two different storage variants – 64 GB with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 128 GB variant with sapphire glass protection on top. Both variants include micro SD card slot with expandable storage up to 2 GB although it’s a hybrid dual SIM configuration.
HTC U Ultra comes with a 12-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera with 1.55-micro pixels, f/2.8 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, optical image stabilization[OIS], laser + phase detection autofocus and BSI sensor. On the front, we have the 16-megapixel camera with an UltraPixel mode which also gets a BSI sensor.
It’s powered by a 3000 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Other features include HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio support, 3D Audio recording supporting, USB 3.1 Type-C, HTC Connect, NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth v4.2, 4G LTE with VoLTE, aGPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, WiFi tether and Miracast.
