Both Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were not resistant to water and that lead company to launch a new variant of the device named as Galaxy S6 Active. In connection to that, we already have Galaxy S5 Active, that’s where the addition of Active to the Galaxy S line begun. This year the South Korean has launched Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge with water-proof capabilities but that hasn’t stopped them from continuing the Active Series as Galaxy S7 Active is rumored.
So Why Active When S7 is Water Proof?
That’s a valid question because both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Active are water-proof because of the metal and glass body. That actually doesn’t mean that your smartphone is completely protected. An IP certified smartphone provides protection from sudden drop, dust, hot or humid air conditions, extreme temperatures or anything which goes with military standards as explained in Wikipedia article.
So the AT&T Galaxy S7 Active will be IP-certified smartphone. Later this week, SamMobile posted a screenshot in which Galaxy S7 Active name appeared alongside with other Samsung phones.
