Display & Processor
Galaxy Star Pro features widely adopted 4-inch (10.16 cms) WVGA touchscreen display providing vivid visual experience. The display resolution stands out at 480 x 800 pixels at 233 ppi pixel density. The viewing angle is fairly good and we generally don’t see any pixelation on the display.
Galaxy Star Pro is the mix in design of latest Samsung Android with Galaxy Ace Duos with curved corners and chrome finish. The SIM card slots are beneath the battery so for any operation of SIM card change, you need to turn off your phone, remove the battery first. But for micro SD card (supporting up to 32 GB) you don’t have to turn off your device. Galaxy Star Pro is a normal 2G phone so people have to be satisfied with GPRS only. Furthermore about dual SIM can be read at below section.
Samsung Galaxy Star Pro runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware version. This makes us to think why wasn’t Samsung Galaxy S updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when even Samsung Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Star and Galaxy Star Pro can run with single core processor.
Through the notification panel on home screen, you can quickly access functions like Wi-Fi, Profile, Screen Rotation, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Blocking Mode & Sync. Just above that, there is an option of directly going through Settings and below quick control to screen brightness. Screen brightness adjustment option here is good add-on because at the end of the battery life is important as most of the Android, I must say smartphones don’t run for more than 24 hours of above average usage.
The phone comes with several pre-installed Google Apps like Chrome, Google Search, Google+, Google Hangout, Play Books, G+ Photos, Play Games, Play Movies & Tv, Play Music, Google Maps, Voice Search, YouTube, Google Drive.
Dual SIM – A New Change
Most of the phones in the market include dual SIM capabilities but Galaxy Star Pro GT-S7262 part apart from those as it comes with Dual SIM always ON feature. Using this feature, if you are engaged on SIM 1, the call is forwarded to SIM 2 and so you will never be missed and vice-versa. Dual SIM means you can manage two different phone numbers and personalize your preferences between business and personals accounts. Given those benefits, Galaxy Star Pro misses out 3G HSDPA connectivity and so the users have to bear with GPRS with EDGE on it.
One looks at camera when he purchases a phone. Galaxy Star Pro includes 2 mega pixel primary & the only camera. The features like video calling, low light photography, dual Shot, burst capture, Geo-tagging, auto focus & all those premium features are cut short as it’s not possible with it. Yet you can’t simply throw away 2 mega pixel sensor as you can take photos at 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution, go with QVGA 320 x 240 pixels video recording at 15fps with Pause and On feature. The following is the video recording sample of Galaxy Star Pro –
Yet Samsung has done it’s best to include camera features like –
- Shooting mode(single shot, panorama, share shot, smile shot), effects, brightness, timer, image resolution.
- Different Scene modes include Landscape, Party, Sunset, Dawn, Candlelight, back-light, night & autumn color.
- Effects including Black & White, Sepia & Negative.
- Image Resolution Supported – 2MP 1600 x 1200, 1.5MP 1600 x 960, 1.3MP 1280 x 960, 0.3MP 640 x 480 pixels
- Video Resolution Supported – 320 x 240 & 176 x 144 pixels

Storage & Connectivity
Galaxy Star Pro GT-S7262 is with 4 GB internal storage capacity but only 1.96 GB is user available. There is micro SD card slot included on the back side supporting up to 32 GB of external storage and to insert micro SD card you don’t need to remove the battery but back cover should be removed. You can also claim 50 GB Dropbox storage for two years with your existing or new Dropbox account. That’s too good and Samsung hasn’t mentioned it anywhere but it’s available. We have claimed that, check the screenshot below.
Going through the connectivity features it includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 A2DP, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth tethering, USB tethering and doesn’t include features NFC, DLNA.
Included with 1500 mAh large capacity Li-ion battery Samsung guarantees of 15 hours of talk time, 26 hours of music playback or standby time of 370 hours. You can expect battery backup of around 1 and half day with moderate usage. That’s pretty good considering it’s a Samsung phone below Rs 10,000, much thanks to no 3G inclusion.
