Samsung might be #1 in Android smartphones sales but they are lagging behind in Android tablet PC segment. Surprisingly, it was Micromax who has emerged as the #1 tablet PC supplier in India. The main reason why brands like Samsung and Apple falls behind the sales percentage than Micromax is because of the price. Micromax has several tablets in the range of Rs 4500 to Rs 12,000, but Samsung Android tablets starts from Rs 16,000 or more. Moreover Indian users are more obsessed to what they see, i.e., they see a dozen of Android tablets priced in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000, why you should afford more?
The tablet PC supply percentage –
- Micromax – 20 %
- Apple – 9 %
- Samsung – 20 %
- Aakash – 12 %
Keeping all this in mind, Samsung has come up with Galaxy Tab 3 with promising features interestingly it sound like it will be priced at Rs 8500 not more than that. It will be the third generation of tablet PCs by the Korean giant and we know this will be unveiled alongside with various other Samsung devices at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. Samsung has tremendous response with Galaxy Pocket and Galaxy Y, Y Duos smartphones in India as they are low priced more importantly powered with Android OS. Samsung still thinks that introducing a tablet PC below Rs 10,000 will certainly make them a jump into top Tablet PC supplier in India.
Few days back Samsung has launched Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone in India to be priced at Rs 21,000. These smartphones comes with Samsung myServices providing complete entertainment, study material and content. With this tablet Samsung aims to compete with upcoming Acer Iconia B1 tablet and Asus Google Nexus 7. Galaxy S3 is expected to arrive by Q2, 2013.
The Android tablets at an affordable range are usually for the gaming, entertainment like watching movies, playing songs, web browsing and social networking connect rather than solely for eBooks.
