July 24 is the date when Google announced Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS as the next version of Android. While there might not be any major update while moving from Android 4.2 but still you should update your device to latest Android version provided the update are available. Just within hours of launch, XDA Developer Admin pulser_g2 has come up with AOSP build Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to Sony Xperia Z phone.
Although Sony Xperia Z is available with stock Android experience, the users can now manually update to get stock Android 4.3 on their 13 mega pixel powered Xperia Z phone.
But this complication of AOSP is done solely from C6603 and don’t try to run it on any other model. Moreover, functions like radio, calling facility, SMS and data connection will not work and only WiFi is working. Certainly this might not be of your interest but you can try to have a hang on your Xperia Z what Nexus device is seeding it now. So to proceed you should have your device rooted with bootloader unlocked.
The installation guide given is –
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
(optionally, I did it, shouldn’t be needed)
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
All files needed are in http://goo.im/devs/pulser/XperiaZ/4.3AOSP
Ensure to take backup of existing ROM before updating because you need to revert back to the same once you have test Android 4.3 on Xperia Z phone.
