As the year winds to a close, there is still plenty of awesome gaming news to keep up with. If you’re a gamer and you’re looking to invest in some awesome new video games, check out our list of the hottest games to play before the end of the year.

Fornite:

Of course, we couldn’t make a list of hot video games without including Fortnight, the most popular game on earth! With over 80 million players, you’re sure to find some friends to get online with and rock the battlefield. Fortnight is an intense, fast-paced, battle royale style game where players fight head to head while building structures to aid in their plight.

The best news? Fortnight is free to play! In-game purchases are available, however, and can get pretty addicting. Watch out for Fortnight scams too, as with so many players logging on, there are bound to be folks hoping to take advantage.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

The much-anticipated release of the remastered, remade, and graphically upgraded version of the 1990’s classic game Age of Empires is set to release this November. Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game where you control civilizations.

Collect resources, build up an army, and send them to battle in one of the many historically-inspired campaigns, or go online and duke it out with fellow players. Plus, with the remastered graphics, the game is beautiful to look at too!

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

If you’re a Star Wars lover, you’re in luck! The newest Star Wars video game is set to hit the shelves – and online gaming stores – this November. Play as a young padawan who has narrowly escaped the clutches of the newly made galactic empire.

This third-person game immerses you in the world of Star Wars as you battle your way through the galaxy across different planets with different climates and terrains. Battle stormtroopers and weird alien beasts on distant planets as you learn the Jedi way after the order has fallen.

Mortal Kombat 11

For lovers of the iconic franchise, Mortal Kombat never disappoints. For those who aren’t familiar with the series, Mortal Kombat is a fighting game, pitting heroes and villains against each other in one-on-one martial arts combat.

With competitive online modes and boasting brand new, exciting story mode, you’ll be hooked to this classic in no time. If you’re just entering the franchise, now, don’t worry. There’s plenty of Mortal Kombat streaming footage that can catch you up to speed, but you can also just jump right in this newest edition!

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Another iconic series from the dawn of video games, Wolfenstein is also releasing a new edition. Play as one of two twins who wield an arsenal of futuristic weapons to fight against the Nazis and their diabolical mechs and other creations to liberate Paris.

In this edition, you can play co-op with a friend or alone, and explore the ruins of Nazi-occupied Paris in search of your father, who has been captured.

Borderlands 3

Another sequel to yet another fan-favorite series, this cult classic first-person shooter returns with more exciting enemies, cool new weapons, and a cast of unforgettable characters.

Tour the post-apocalyptic wastes as you scavenge for better weapons, fending off hordes of mutants and psychos who are trying to kill you. Play the story mode, or go online for a riveting arena shooter adventure.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Rounding out our list is the iconic Call of Duty franchise. With the newest edition of Modern Warfare to be released this October, there is much to be anticipated. The first edition of Modern Warfare was released in 2007 – that’s 12 years ago! Since then, the franchise has released games exploring covert operations in Black Ops, as well as what warfare may look like in the near future.

The latest edition of Modern Warfare includes a gripping single-player campaign mode, a special ops squad-based mode, and the essential online mode that we know and love.
