Big Bash League

Big Bash League (BBL) will enter into the ninth edition of it and this year there are a lot many things improved. The Cricket Australia (CA) is looking for ways to make BBL as the world’s most-watched International Cricket Premier league because it’s #2 position after Indian Premier League (IPL) in terms of popularity and number of viewers.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that they will have many changes in the process to choose a winner this season. The organizing board has a plan to avoid the controversial World Cup 2019 final repeat in Big Bash League and WBBL and a new finals structure.

The winner for World Cup between England and New Zealand was chosen based on boundary counts because it was a tied game and a tied Super Over. This controversy will be remembered for a long time and perhaps there should be better ways to determine the winner. Instead, CA chooses to have multiple Super Overs if the finals of BBL and WBBL are tied. It has already happened twice in WBBL where the winner was chosen based on boundary count.

Further organizing board has introduced a new finals structure in which five of the eight teams can reach the finals stage. Here is how the Big Bash League fixture will look after the first round of the game.

As you see on Jan 30th there will be an eliminator between the 4th and 5th ranked team and winner of that match will take on the 3rd placed team on February 1st after the top two teams have decided a finalist through a match on Jan 31st. On Feb 6th the loser of Jan 31st Qualifier will take on the winner of knock-out (i.e., Feb 1st match) and on Feb 8th there will be a final between the winner of qualifier vs the winner of the challenger. So that’s an interesting move this season by the organizers and these few changes have made this tournament worth watching.

Coming to men’s team, Dale Steyn will play for Melbourne Stars, Alex Hales joins Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat pull off huge coup signing AB de Villiers and Zahir Khan, the Afghanistan spin bowler.

The Big Bash League season 9 begins December 17th and the winner will be crowned on February 8, reducing the season from 54 days to mere 42 days.

Alongside Cricketers providing their best performance during the match play, you can even participate in a fantasy league and win real cash.

There are several websites and apps which provide you with a chance to play a fantasy league. Generally in Fantasy game you have to pick up your playing XI and you get points based on individual performance, i.e., runs you scored, wicket taken, catch taken, every boundary hit, every six-hit, maiden over and other actions.

Several fantasy game providers have added Big Bash League and other popular tournaments like Vitality T20 Blast, Euro T20 Slam aka European Premier League, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and world’s most famous Indian Premier League (IPL).

Big Bash League 2019 season will be one of the most interesting ones to play this season in terms of fantasy league.
