Micromax + Cyanogen has come out with Yu Yureka successor named as Yu Yuphoria. Cyanogen is very happy with Micromax partnership in Yu Televentures. Just like the first Yu phone, Yu Yuphoria has been sold in flash sales on Amazon.in. Yu Yuphoria actually isn’t a successor of Yu Yureka but it’s an incremental upgrade, a handset completely different from its predecessor, targeted to customers with average purchase of Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 in India.
The Yu Yuphoria stock on Amazon.in sells out in 2 minutes or less duration and if you want one handset for yourself, then you will have to first register for sale and then sit before 2 PM on Thursday to obtain one Yu Yuphoria handset. If you get one, then you are lucky or else wait for next Thursday. We will learn why Yu Yuphoria phone is so popular by going through Yu Yuphoria Review over here.

Display & Design
For the first timer, Yu Yuphoria will charm you with metal frame and only plastic used is on the back side of the device. The handset gives polish look and has strong build quality with excellent finishing. Overall design of Yu Yuphoria is unique and doesn’t matches any phone. We were quite surprised to see Power/Wake Up button in between the two Volume Rocker keys. Apart from making it difficult at times of taking screenshot or booting into recovery, that Volume Rockers + Power buttons combination will not hurt you at all.
Apart from design, you got to give credits to YU on how the camera module is placed. It has circular and catches the eye easily. The back cover of the device is removable and handset includes dual SIM support with SIM 1 and SIM 2 accepting 4G LTE SIMs. Audio jack comes on the top and below is the micro USB port and it had dual mics for noise cancellation.
The phone has thickness of 8.35 mm[definitely not thin] with actual dimensions being 73.05 x 142.69 x 8.35 mm and handset weighs 143 grams[including battery]. It feels good to hold in hand with comfortable grip.
Well, that was about design part, in terms of display, we have the 5 inch screen providing 1280 x 720 pixels HD resolution with 66.3% Screen to body ratio. The pixel density obtained from the display is 294 PPI and screen gets Gorilla Glass 3 protection from normal scratches and finger print marks. There are no touch and just like Nexus devices, you will have to bear with on-screen buttons.
Yu Yuphoria on the rear side houses 8 mega pixel Auto Focus camera with LED flash in a completely different design. Camera is fast and produces above average quality of photos and videos. It supports full HD & HD video recording and also supports slow motion video recording but that isn’t with good quality.
Some of the camera samples are –
The camera photos under the low light conditions [without flashlight] are really bad –
There is also 5 mega pixel front facing camera located on the top of front side used for selfies. It gives you average results and supports 720p.
Storage & Features
The device comes with 16 Gigs of internal storage and there is a micro SD card slot as well supporting 32 GB of storage externally via micro SD card. While on our review, we got 11 GB as the user space available and rest is consumed by system resources.
Software Look up
Yu Televentures is partnership of Cyanogen Inc and Micromax in India for the sale of Cyanogen OS phones and so they are restricted to come up with only Cyanogen powered handset. Yu Yuphoria comes with Cyanogen 12.0 operating system version which is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. There is expected Cyanogen 12.1 build on Android 5.1 Lollipop coming up very soon.
With 2230 mAh Li-ion battery the backup is very good which can give you 4 to 6 hours of continuous usage on since charge. Official standby time listed on the site is up to 160 hours on 3G and up to 7 hours of talk time. Added to that there is support of Quick Charge 1.0 which can charge your handset from 0 to 50% within 45 minutes.
Pros and Cons
The biggest plus that we can give to this handset is the all sets of combination coming to you at just Rs 6,999.
Cons are definitely being the marketing strategy to sale this handset via Flash sale on Amazon.in.
Definitely impressive handsets and it’s par with Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000 Plus, Moto E 2015, Samsung Galaxy J1 phone but what we didn’t like is the flash sales. You got to wait for your device and that’s something we call it has forced wait in order to attract attention.
