With new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 tablet, Apple unveiled a technology switching the wireless carriers in the United States with just a tap in Settings, a revolution in the wireless industry. But it looks like that the new generation of iPads on AT&T is giving out the problem as AT&T locks the SIM Card. This means that you will have to stay on AT&T on your newly purchased iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 tablet purchased from Apple Store.
This problem however persists with SIM card lock as iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 can be used with a new SIM card on Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T or any other carrier.
So, it’s clear that one carrier has already placed restrictions on Apple’s universal SIM card and if such system were to roll out to iPhone, it will create problems for carriers as everyone want’s independence. This will make the situation worse for carriers as it will become harder for them keep loyal customers and will also give less motivation for consumers to buy contract agreement phones.
And also this will re-iterate carriers to offer better pricing for customers with an ever-growing competition.
