In July 2016, Blu upgraded their Energy smartphone lineup with the launch of powerful and impressive Blu Energy XL smartphone. Having the bigger 6 inches full HD display, the device gets 5000 mAh battery which lasts for up to three days and includes the fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C feature. Everything is good about the handset but one thing is missing – the latest Android version, i.e., the Marshmallow 6.0. We go through details on when Blu Energy XL Android Marshmallow update will be available and process on how to update it.
Blu Energy XL Android Marshmallow
The company during the launch of Blu Energy XL said that the device is eligible to get the Android Marshmallow update and it will be very soon available. However, at that time, there was no approximate time window when the update will be roll-out. We are expecting to see the update to be available in August or September this year.
Blu often doesn’t update their device to the latest version. From the software point of view, almost 70% Blu phones remains on their stock Android version. Being one of the fastest growing prepaid phone manufacturers in the United States, they should consider providing the latest software updates or launch the device with the latest Android version.
At least, it looks like that the things are changing. We have the budget Blu R1 HD powered with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of box.
How to Update
Once the update is announced, it will be available for download via Over the Air. So that’s quite easy to do as you just need to go through Settings > About Phone and then tap on the ‘Check for Update‘ option.
