Many gaming fans were astonished to see Razer, a gaming equipment manufacturing company announced gaming-dedicated Razer Phone. The phone is exclusive to the United States market. It’s the world’s first smartphone with 120 Hz Ultra motion display and also the first device to feature Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0+.
Razer phone perfectly suitable for the gamers as the 120 Hz refresh rate is too good for any smartphone. Further, the hardware with a 64-bit Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile platform coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB built-in storage means that you can play mobile games without any lag.
Sadly, the Razer phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is not the latest version of Android. Google recently announced Android 8.0 Oreo and Razer phone owners are now looking forward to answers of – when will Razer phone get Android Oreo update?
Representatives from Razer during the device launch confirmed that the phone will get Oreo software roll-out. The exact date of the launch wasn’t given but timeline can be marked down as Q1, 2018.
The Razer software development team will skip the update to Android 7.1.2, which is an intermediatory version and directly go for Android Oreo 8.0.

The update will be roll-out via Over the Air (OTA) and you will also get the notification on your device when it’s available. That will make the process of updating to latest firmware easier as you will not need to connect your device to PC. The update file will be first downloaded to your phone and then it will get installed. Your phone will be restarted automatically to apply updates and then installed apps will be optimized. The complete process of updating Razer phone to Android Oreo will take 20-30 minutes.
