UMI Super, UMI Plus & UMI Max Nougat Update in December 2016

Everyone is excited about the Android Nougat. So am I and waiting to see when Samsung does it for my Galaxy On5 Pro. Fingers-crossed! Chinese carriers who one time didn’t provide any software updates, are now seriously considering this. Some OEMs like UMI, Vivo, Oppo, and Gionee have realized the importance of delivering software updates to existing smartphones. UMI has planned to update UMI Super, UMI Plus, and UMI Max to Android Nougat this Christmas Eve. This makes UMI one of many Chinese OEMs to plan something special.

UMI Nougat Update Plan

It’s nice to see that UMI Mobile has come up with an Android Nougat software roll-out plan for their existing and qualifying smartphones.

Those are not only the UMI phones to get the Android 7.0 update, as UMI has something similar to other phones released in 2016 as well.

The following UMI phones will get to see the Nougat update –

UMI Super
UMI Max
UMI Plus
UMI Rome X
UMI Super 2
UMI Super Edge
UMI London
UMI Iron

Apart from the above devices, there will not be any UMI devices added to the list. This list is final and the official one indeed. So cheer up for those who own one of the above-mentioned UMI phones.

UMI Diamond Nougat Update

Running on Android 6.0 out of the box, a 2016-launched UMI Diamond is bound to get the Nougat update much earlier than other phones listed above.

UMI Diamond X Nougat Update

The $99 Diamond X is also slated to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The ETA however is unknown.

Last but not least, a brave move by UMI and we are hoping that upcoming mobiles by UMI will be running on Android Nougat out of the box.

Android Nougat brings out more than 250 major and minor features but we have listed on important ones at best Android Nougat features.
