Xiaomi is getting extremely serious about the software updates.. It was only a couple of months back that the Chinese smartphone giant announced MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo and now we hear that MIUI 9.5 update is officially announced.

According to latest statement and reports, MIUI 9.5 update will be available to 30 smartphones. The update is been rolled out in phase wise manner.

The MIUI 9.5 is currently rolled out to Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 4 with Qualcomm (Redmi Note 4x), Redmi 5 Plus, Mi Max and Mi Max Prime and Redmi Note 3 powered by Qualcomm chipset. If you own these handsets then you will see the update available.

Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5A Prime/Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite/Redmi Note 5A, Mi Max 2, Mi 5, Redmi 4X, Mi Mix 2 and Mi 6 to get the update in between 1st to 10th April.

From 11th to 20th, the update will be rolled out to Mi Note 3, Mi Note 2, Mi 5S, Mi Mix, Mi 5S Plus, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 4, Redmi 3, Mi 3, and Mi 4 phone.

MIUI 9 Update: Who doesn’t know Xiaomi. A year back or two, we had to say that Xiaomi is a Chinese brand but today it’s among the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in the world. All the Xiaomi phones ships with custom skin known as MIUI and currently MIUI 8 is the latest version based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Since Android 7.0 Nougat has been officially launched and available, time for Xiaomi to start testing out the MIUI 9 update which will bring the Android 7.0 to Mi Mix, Mi 5S, Redmi Note 4 & other phones.

MIUI 9 Update

Even though there are a lot of devices still to get the stable MIUI 8 update, Xiaomi has started working on MIUI 9. The first exposure about it came up when Xiaomi showed two photos of company’s employee with number 9 in the background. MyDriver site shared this photos. That refers to MIUI 9 ROM only. However, this happens to be a leak as MIUI 9 beta ROM hasn’t been released yet.

Furthermore, on the MIUI Forum, a device screenshot with MIUI 9 developer version based of Android 7.x Nougat was spotted. It happens to be MIUI 9.10.13 version, to be precise.

MIUI 9 Release Date

The MIUI 8 global stable ROM update began rolling out starting August 16, 2016 and the company has lot many phones to deal with it. Once this rollout is over, MIUI 9 will be announced. First, the MIUI 9 Chinese ROM will be released and then the global stable version.

The MIUI 9 announcement will happen only in Q2, 2017 and just like MIUI 8, the Android Nougat MIUI build will begin roll out only in July-August next year. Just like this year, Google will definitely announce Android 8.0 aka Android O update in the month of April-May, 2017. So that means that Xiaomi is lacking behind in the race to the latest software updates delivery. At the same time, the company does one good thing – include all the possible devices for the update roll out.

MIUI 9 Features

The MIUI 8 included some cool features, some of the highlighting ones are the ability to take scrolling screenshot, Second Space, integrated payment and much more. At the same time, the features in MIUI 9 isn’t known yet and it’s hard to comment at this moment.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X Nougat Update : Note 4X MIUI 9 ROM

Redmi Note 4X Nougat Update: Xiaomi latest smartphone is Redmi Note 4x after in the month of January we had the launch of White edition of Mi Mix. Sadly that is limited for sale in China only. Here we talk about Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x Nougat update and when it will be receiving it in India through the MIUI 9 update.

Sadly the newly Note 4x runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. For your info, MIUI is the custom overlay used by Xiaomi phones and it’s a self-developed custom skin.

Xiaomi has already said that they are working on to bring MIUI 9 update which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The development for MIUI 9 is already in works and we could soon have the official Chinese Nougat build for Redmi Note 4x and other devices.

There will be also custom Redmi Note 4x Nougat ROM available. I think the unofficial custom ROM from makers like Lineage OS will be released before the official one comes out.

The details of what feature will be included in the Android 7.0 version for Redmi Note 4x after the update remains unavailable but we are definitely sure that company will include most common Android Nougat features.
